Canadian Homebrewer Day

Canadian Homebrewer Day

Village is hosting us on their patio for Canadian Homebrew Day on Saturday, June 7th.

Last year was a ton of fun. Friendly atmosphere and great to see and learn about everyone's different systems.

For those interested in brewing on-site, we need to know your system type, and size. RO water will be available as well as salts for adjustments. We will aim to arrive and set up for 10:00 and mash in to be at 11:00 when they open.

This year there is no official Canadian Homebrew Day recipe, so brew what your heart desires 🍺

Don't forget to check out our sponsors page for discount details. New for this year, Village Brewery is offering our members a 20% discount on beers in the taproom, off-sales & merch.

Our sponsors have asked that members let them know they have a club discount before the transaction is entered into the till.

If you have ProServe, we would love your help in pouring 2 collab beers that will be brewed with Village.  If you don't have ProServe, don't worry, there are plenty of other tasks you can help with -- such as setup, tear down, or just talking about homebrewing with passers-by!

Please contact Fallon if you have any questions.  Signup form below:

January Meeting

Join us at Village Brewery for the triticale competition fan favourite voting!

Last fall Greg gave an enlightening presentation on triticale, cereal mashing, and home malting. Click here to learn more! Triticale (a hybrid grain between wheat and rye) was donated by Pivot Spirits Craft Distillery out of Rolling Hills AB, and now it is time to see what our group of brewers made with this grain.

Competition participants please bring ~1.5 litres of your beer, plus some notes on how you used/processed the triticale, the base style for your beer, and any other notes on your experience brewing with the grain.  Everyone else, just bring a taster cup!

Annual General Meeting

What: AGM

Where: Village Brewery

When: 8pm

At this meeting you will have an opportunity to review the past year’s operation of the association with your executive, and to elect at a minimum 6 directors for the governing board of the society for the period until the 2025 AGM.

Note that your executive directors have secured a slate of 7 members willing to stand for election that will fill all executive and director positions required by our association bylaws. Having these 7 positions filled at the upcoming AGM is a mandatory requirement of our society bylaws to ensure club continuity. This does not in any way prevent other members from volunteering to run for any director/executive positions for your society for the 2025 club year. If you are interested, please contact the Secretary, Kevin Hanson at secretary@yeastwranglers.ca by Thursday October 31st. Nominations from the floor are also accepted during the AGM.

Your treasurer will be providing you with important information about the financial status of the Cowtown Yeast Wranglers. A copy of our audited financial statements for the year ended August 30, 2024 will be included in an upcoming email package for you to review prior to the meeting.

Thank you and we look forward to seeing you at the meeting. A shortened version of a normal club meeting will follow.
