I'm looking to make a good easy Apricot Wheat beer ASAP, so I'm going to do the wheat extract kit and apricot puree method. Does anyone have any good wheat kits they recommend before I just head out and try whatever (ie: brew house, muntons, morgans, barons, etc)? Aswell, who would be most likely to carry an apricot puree in cans (as in or similar to the Oregon brand).....Thanks in advance peeps.......

I have not found any fruit puree similar to the Oregon brand purees, unfortunately. But I can recommed the BrewHouse Prairie Wheat kit. It gets great reviews, and I have had outstanding success with their other kits.

Based on the quality of their other kits, the FestaBrew wheat beer is probably very good, too (although a bit pricier).

I have never had any real success with the Coopers, Muntons, Baron's or Morgan's kits. Compared to the Brewhouse and FestaBrew all-grain kits, everything else is pretty marginal, IMO.

Wow, that was quick! Thanks, I wasn't too sure about others opinions of the brew house kit, I've made a few now that are quite good (and had 5+year bottle "conditioned"/forgotten ones) that were amazing to say the least for a simple kit....I admit i've felt a bit guilty enjoying so little effort....

Well the hunt begins then for the puree!

If you find a good puree, please report back and let us know the source and the cost.

Well, my first stop was a natural food store, figured if any place would have a "pure" puree that would be it......And I was right....Community Natural Foods has frozen buckets of organic no additive puree (750g I think) from BC. I know its not as ideal as a canned puree in terms of sterilization, but lots of people do just fine starting with whole fruit. Regardless I'm considering the sulpher dioxide treatment overnight with it before adding, just to be safe. I think the frozen will be fine for a couple reasons, the effect of freezing on the fruit should ideally help with extraction of the flavor in the secondary, and aswell should help with the microbes....Plus BC fruit is the best! Haha... Anyhow, in terms of cost, it is a little more expensive, at $13 and change per 750g tub (2x tubs is approx the equivalent of 1 46oz can of the fabled Oregon puree)....I purchased 2 for now, I'm beginning to think I may grab 1 more just to be safe.....Aswell, they had a number of different puree's available, I don't recall them all, but there was 4 or 5 there......

Excellent -- can't wait to hear how that turns out. I might even have to do some experimenting of my own!
