Hello All;

This weekend i was able to pick up a pretty sweet score from an old homebrewer out in Grande Prairie, and i now have 9 kegs that I need to recondition.

Anyone know of a local source for appropriate o-rings and keg lube? The Vineyard? or should I just be ordering these online?

For 150$ I got 5 ball lock Cornies, 2 pink lock cornies and 2 10gallon ball locks, and a whole lot of other stuff...

 http://picasaweb.google.com/jmwebb/TheHomebrewMotherload  <-- the complete haul

Can't wait to get these reconditioned and start kegging!

Wow -- what a haul.  That's a great deal.

Yes, The Vineyard sells the o-rings and seals needed to recondition a keg.  You can find complete kits online as well, but Tom carries the good seals (not the cheap ones that tend to leak) so they are probably worth the small amount of extra money.  Not sure if he has Keg Lube, though -- that stuff is hard to find (probably because it isn't really all that necessary).

If you want some good sites for cleaning/reconditioning corny kegs, here are a few good ones:

Thanks Darren.

Now to scour kijji and Craigslist for an appropriate donor keezer/kegerator.

So you dont recomment a lube for the seals ?

I recommend it, but I don't generally find it necessary.

Half the time I forget to put Keg Lube on the seals/o-rings after I have disassembled a keg (like the three I did yesterday).  Usually they are just fine without it.  But I do like to put a bit on the posts to lube them up a bit for putting-on and removing the disconnects and lines.

A full set of O-Rings is about $3 at More Beer.  You can also get poppets there.  look carefully on the keg for the type and you may save yourself some money - they range from 3-8 dollars each.  You can also get lube there.  If asked they will ship USPS rather than UPS (which should be avoided.)

I am a bit obsessive about kegs so I tear mine down completely every time I use them and clean them then put them back together with lube.

cheers,

Corey

I should also mention that Homebrew Supply also carries keg supplies at a reasonable price - and they were a big sponsor of our last competition.  They are from Ontario, so shipping should be more reasonable then from California.

Cheers,

Corey
